  • Abstract
    This paper presents the phenomenon of delayed voltage recovery in power system of Saudi Electricity Company Western Region (SEC-WR), resulting from motor stalling of large air-conditioner (A/C) loads after faults. Parameters of the air-conditioning model are tuned successfully and reasonably by comparing simulation results with the dynamic system monitor (DSM) recorded disturbances. To solve this problem, a static condenser (STATCON) system is introduced in SEC-WR network, and the modeling of STATCON is developed for PSS/E (Power System Simulator for Engineering). The effectiveness of employing STATCON to resolve delayed voltage recovery is verified through simulation in this paper.
