Abstract
This paper presents a model-based diagnosis system for monitoring and control of the human cardiovascular system. This system, including a therapy management module, can be used as an intelligent assistant, e.g., in intensive care units, to assist physicians in decision making and therapy planning for heart patients. Based on continuous input data, this system is able to monitor qualitative and quantitative changes in the cardiovascular system in view of the clinical situation of the patient and can give qualitative information about pathophysiological system variables by using its qualitative knowledge-base including the implemented deep mathematical model of the human circulatory system
