Abstract :
The aim of this work is to show that parameters obtained from spectral estimation techniques, concerning the electroenterogram (electrical signal from the serosa of the gut), are correlated with the pressure in the small bowel. These spectral techniques are even better than parameters obtained from simple analysis in the time domain. Therefore, it is possible to recover intestinal motility information through electroenterogram frequency analysis. The electroenterogram is the result of a slow wave (SW) and a spike burst (SB), but only the latter represents intestinal pressure. Spectral analysis was made to the SE in order to extract parameters for correlating with the intestinal motility
