  • Abstract
The VN440, a member of a new high-voltage smart power family, is presented. This 450 V, 0.75 Ω power MOSFET also includes on the same chip a driver circuit, overtemperature protection, overtemperature alarm, current sense, programmable current limitation, and short-circuit protection. The on-chip protections have a very low reaction time and allow real, fast protection. This increases the system reliability. As the driving interface and the protections are already integrated, the designers can fully concentrate on the system approach. An application example using the VN440 smart power MOSFET is shown: a single switch flyback power converter in self-oscillating mode
