Abstract :
A novel high voltage source called the electronic voltage ratchet (EVR) is described which utilizes a series resonant topology with silicon controlled rectifiers. Computer simulation revealed that the gain of a practical EVR was greater than that of a practical series resonant inverter (AC) or boost converter (DC). The output voltage waveform was either AC or DC. A prototype circuit was built and tested in the laboratory in order to confirm the theoretical predictions
