Abstract :
The paper analyzes the propagation of Rayleigh-type surface acoustic waves in a layered piezomagnetic/piezoelectric structure affected by a biasing magnetic field. The materials are assumed to be transversely isotropic. The governing equations under a biasing magnetic field are acquired based on three dimensional magnetoelectric theory. The dispersion relations are obtained and the phase velocities are calculated with consideration of electrically shorted case under a biasing magnetic field. The effect of a biasing magnetic field on stress field and displacement along the thickness direction of the layer are presented and discussed. The results show that the biasing magnetic field has significant effect on the phase velocity and displacement. The analytical method and the results can be useful for the design of the magnetoelectric acoustic wave devices.
