Abstract
A novel deep bar model in which the rotor bars are split into two layers, each of which is represented by several modified π-links, is presented. The study includes an investigation of relative discrepancies for rotor resistance and inductance as a function of frequency for different rotor equivalent circuits. The authors give a mathematical description of alternative models of saturation, and present a new model that takes into account spatially dependent saturation in deep bar induction motors, and application to direct start and start by open and closed wye-delta transition
