Abstract
The output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of a myoelectric signal processor is an important performance measure of the myoelectric channel for powered artificial limbs. In this paper, the SNR is analyzed theoretically by viewing the skeletal muscle as a myoelectric communication channel. A general SNR expression for the channel with additive noise is obtained and, in particular, power line interference is studied to determine its influence on the channel performance
