Abstract :
Experiments were performed using a two pole 1.5 kW cage rotor induction motor to confirm the validity of unbalance heating theory due to eccentricity. It was found that more heating was generated in the eccentricity direction. A method of expressing unbalance heating or thermal unbalance, a temperature circle diagram, was devised. It is concluded that, when an induction motor has an eccentric rotor, the stator or rotor receives unbalance heating due to unbalance heating phenomena, classified into eight factors. Practical computation formulae for each are established, whereby the air gap heating or cooling relations of the stator and rotor can be prescribed
