Abstract :
Biodegradable polymers were coated on a stent-type stainless steel (SS) spring using an ultrasonic nanocoater. Paclitaxel (PTX)-loaded PLGA/PLLA multilayers were uniformly coated on the SS spring and the thickness was around 15 µm. Release profiles of PTX showed that the release was fast and higher in low concentration (5%) while there was no significant difference between 10% and 20% PTX. The surface morphology of PTX-loaded PLGA/PLLA multilayer coated SS springs was considerably rougher after drug release test due to the degradation of coating layers.
