Abstract :
The authors present in detail the interface of a digital power metering system that provides multifunction instrumentation, data acquisition, and control using an RS 485-based local area network, (LAN). This system consists of an LAN in which several remote data acquisition and control nodes are serviced by a PC host. Each node, consisting of a metering processor and an input/output (I/O) processor, is linked to a PC-based LAN. The basic components are examined, and the potential uses of such a system and its power monitoring and control function are described
