Abstract
Consideration is given to Intensive-Help (IH), a knowledge-based system which combines the power of an expert system, a database, and a real-time system to provide a full-scale support for intensive care, ranging from documentation to therapy suggestions. The authors describe the problem domain, the overall open system structure, the knowledge base structure, which is based on a multi-agent architecture, the interface of IH to different online monitoring instruments, and the knowledge representation methods supported by the field prototype of IH. Directions of future efforts are discussed
