Abstract
A connection between algebraic functions of the angle of scattering and integral parameters of particle size distribution is shown on the basis of measurement methods in which scattering at a small angle is fundamental. The particle size distribution can be obtained by the direct inversion of light scattering data, without presupposing a form for the distribution function. Measurements using instruments based on the direct inversion of light scattering data are absolute and do not require an empirical calibration procedure. The determination of quantities characterizing the particle size distribution is accomplished without solving the ill-posed problems
