Abstract :
In this paper, review of degenerate bandedge (DBE) antenna, followed by variations in plane or in volume to realize multimode and wideband configurations is presented. Ferrite and multilayer substrates are also examined to realize the Magnetic Photonic Crystal (MPC) modes to further improve bandwidth and multifunctionality. Of particular interest in this regard is the use of thin magnetic layers which can still realize the MPC mode without stringent requirements on low loss.
