Abstract
Phase analog compensation (PPC) was applied to a bipolar flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC). PPC parameters were set by analyses of flash ADC error sources and of PPC operation. It is shown that phase plane compensation effectively compensates the nonlinear error sources of the tested ADC, lowering the estimated distortion floor by 11 dB for a full-scale ADC input range (2 V) and wide (40 MHz) bandwidth. The results indicate that the factor limiting better compensation was probably incorrect calibration input estimation
