Abstract
This paper describes the cycle of feasibility study, design, implementation and practice of a the maintenance system of Interelectra, a medium sized Belgium utility. It explains the process steps: quick scan (feasibility of cost reduction), design (maintenance breakdown, detailed component type FMECA, maintenance plan (re)design by an experts project group) and the implementation (including the use of an expert support system). The results achieved after implementation are briefly discussed, as practical operation has started recently (beginning of 2001)
