Abstract
The market economy implementation in the power industry has brought higher requirements for the electric distribution network operators to be aware of the condition of their operated cables. A reliable detection of the cable network condition can be done only by a comprehensive analysis of all available information on cables. A Czech Republic electric utility in Prague, has established, as a part of its operation and technical department, a section called “Diagnostics and Measurement” in 1999 to perform diagnostic cable measuring and testing, information on cables, and to analyse measurements and the related information
