  • Abstract
A combination of transmitting and receiving ultrasound arrays is presented and analyzed. The arrays are composed of polyvinylidene-fluoride (PVDF)-membrane transducers, a new type of transducer well suited for applications in low-impedance media like air. PVDF transducers offer a broadband impulse response. Computer simulations, as well as measured characteristics, are presented and show the effectiveness of the transmitter-receiver combination which is used for sector B-scans
