Abstract :
Utilizing force sensing resistor technology, an initial system has been devised that measures applied finger pressure during keyboard data entry without impairing the normal accessibility of the keys. The system has been developed to support a more quantified study of the various ergonomic issues associated with occupations requiring considerable data entry by keyboard. The system is designed to operate within the same computer system used for data entry, so that ultimately it will serve as an active feedback device for the data entry operator. An overview of both the hardware and software aspects of the system is presented together with some initial results, and a discussion of future goals is presented
