Abstract :
High-current uncored pulsed small-size betatrons (BIM) are developed by A.I. Pavlovskii group and used for obtaining X-ray images at the explosion experiments. Obviously they generate bremsstrahlung (BR) on the internal target. This paper gives a description of device BIM-M, which is the new modification of the accelerator. It is supplied with multiple-thread betatron winding electromagnet, convenient 2 MeV injector and system of current pulse generators for formation of BR pulse. The BR pulses with duration /spl les/100 ns, series from 1 to 3 peaks with duration /spl les/150-200 ns or one pulse of 2...30 /spl mu/s duration is formed. About 10/sup 13/ electrons have been accelerated up to the energy 70 MeV on the orbit radius 23 cm, with /spl ap/500 /spl mu/s cycle duration. The accelerator is optimized on the accelerating current and parameters of beam-dumping system. The radiographic characteristics of device are given in separate paper.
