As a distinguished architectural style of ancient China, Hui Zhou architecture is well preserved and graphically illustrates a type of human settlements created during feudal period and a prosperous trading economy. Based on the main architectural features -“whitewashed wall, grey tiles and fire-proof walls”, “courtyard”, “memorial arches”, and “carving art”, this essay carries out the researches on design concepts of Hui Zhou architecture in terms of local custom, culture, socio-economy, politics and design tradition. After revealing its cultural significance and architectural prominence, it is recognized that the diversity is the trend of architectural globalization. In order to maintain architectural diversity, it is recommended that the historical architecture and sites should be conserved, while the features of historical and local architecture should be researched and developed in the current and future architecture.
