  • Abstract
    The design concept of a microcellular radio system using a TDMA/FDMA cross-connect switch with a dynamical channel assignment function and subcarrier multiplexing (SCM) transmission is presented. The cross-connect switch, which can remarkably increase system capacity, eases fluctuations in traffic. The SCM transmission makes it possible to construct simple and flexible radio stations easily. The configuration of the system and basic performance of the cross-connect switch for TDMA signals are presented. A method to expand the SCM transmission dynamic range is described
