Abstract
The paper describes developments to date in European Policy (the Priority Waste Stream Group makes recommendation to the Commission by the end of July 1995), the implications for the UK, and initiatives underway by UK industry to meet the challenges of Producer Responsibility. This will include the progress made by ICER and its members, and a description of the ICER Recovery and Recycling Trial which will begin in September. The paper also includes the results of a study being undertaken for the Corporation of London, assessing demanding for a recycling service for end-of-life equipment in the City. This is the first study of its kind in the UK, and is generating interesting data on disposal patterns for end-of-life equipment, particularly IT and office equipment. The study will be completed in September
