Abstract
Detection performance of coherent and partially coherent optimum one-shot binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) receivers in slowly flat-fading multiple access interference (MAI) and AWGN-limited Rayleigh channels are determined. It is shown that both the coherent and the partially coherent one-shot minimum bit error rate (BER) receivers for MAI-limited mobile radio channels can attain perfect detection and they are robust with respect to the spatial distribution of the mobile terminals (near-far effect) and to the slow variations (shadowing) in the mobile radio channel. The implications of singular detection characteristics for optimum multiple-access signal design are discussed
