Abstract :
Alternative methods for designing an adaptive equalizer which efficiently reduces the frequency-selective fading arising in a land mobile communication system is presented. The procedure introduced utilizes the conjugate gradient method (CGM) for computing the optimal weights of the equalizer. For comparison purposes, numerical results of the recursive least square algorithm are presented. From the simulations, it is concluded that the proposed method shows comparable bit-error-rate (BER) performances spending relatively less computation time
