Abstract :
An 8-element wideband printed dipole antenna array is analyzed and successfully implemented. The element used is double-sided elliptic printed dipole fed by a balanced transmission line. A wide-band balun from a microstrip feeding line to a balanced transmission line for the array was designed and implemented. Good agreement between the simulated and measured results of the array was observed. In the frequency band l-2.64GHz, the measured VSWR is below 2.0. In the frequency band 1-2.5GHz, the designed array has directional radiation pattern and its gain is between 14dB and 17.3dB. So the relative bandwidth which can meet both impedance and radiation characteristic requirements is 85.7%.
