Abstract :
This paper describes an approach for generating compact semiconductor device models in SPICE (C/C++) from a higher-level representation in the form of an XML-based schema for device modelling. The methodology undertaken includes generation of low level C/C++ code for SPICE and SPICE-like simulators from higher level languages such as HDLs (VHDL-AMS, MAST and Verilog-A) or directly from XML utilizing existing graphical tools (Paragon). As such, the aim of the paper is to introduce the proposed XML-based standard and its associated methods, as well as highlight the modelling process through an instructive example.
