Abstract
Decoupled excitations to maximize the sum gain factor g, the difference angular sensitivity factor s, or s square root g, with sidelobes constrained to specified levels, were originally derived for continuous line sources. These excitations were then impulse sampled to obtain the amplitude weights for discrete arrays. However, for very low SLRs (sidelobe ratios) or for a complicated sidelobe topography, the array factor sidelobes failed to meet their design levels due to sampling errors. To avoid this problem in its entirety, the original decoupled excitation synthesis is reformulated so that the element weights are computed directly without the need for sampling.<>
