Abstract
This paper presents an extension to the Mandatory Minute Volume (MMV) ventilation mode. The new ventilation scheme regulates the level of mandatory minute volume automatically to ensure that arterial CO2 tension remains below a level specified by an operator. The new ventilation scheme while providing all features of the MMV mode ensures that arterial CO2 tension remains acceptable
