Abstract
This paper present several processes that show implementation of a compact negative pulse generator using the series connected IGBTs switch for WIPS (Wire Ion Plasma Source) reactor. Two kinds of approach are shown in this paper to design medium voltage switch using IGBT in series connection and to generate stable negative pulse. There is proposed novel active clamping method of IGBTs to synchronize dynamic voltage sharing at each IGBT that is based on analytical and experimental data of typical series connection. To generate stable negative pulse that is used in buck type simple negative pulse generator, EMTP is preferred to analysis and improve output pulse shape.
