The radio astronomical groups from the Institute of Applied Physics RAS and Institute of Radio Astronomy NASU have collaborated for several years in the fields of millimetre and submillimetre spectroscopy of the interstellar medium. Here we review the main results of these studies and describe the general situation in this fieid with emphasis on the topics which seem to us the most important
