  • Abstract
We demonstrate a simple and fast method for micropatterning streptavidin-functionalized magnetic beads on glass by combining conventional microfabrication techniques and electrostatic self- assembly. We create micropatterns of a positively-charged aminosilane on a glass surface using the lift-off technique and use them as templates for streptavidin-functionalized magnetic bead patterning through electrostatic self-assembly. Micropatterning of streptavidin-functionalized magnetic beads is realized over large surface areas (4 inch wafer area) with high reproducibility and in a very short processing time (~30 minutes).
