Abstract :
A new video-based highway management information system is developed. The key techniques include video capture, moving picture compression, mileage calculation and processing of GPS information. The system structure is introduced first, and the algorithm for calculating mileage from GPS coordinate is described in detail. The experiment results have shown that the algorithm is effective in reducing errors. And the new system can be used in the highway management.
