Abstract
Sci-Eng solutions is developing compact, robust, and efficient megavolt class photon initiated-Marxed modulators (PIMM´s) designed to directly drive klystrons that are intended to satisfy the demanding requirements for future linear accelerators. These modulators are equally applicable for high power microwave applications pertinent to the directed energy arena. Photon-initiated switches provide the versatility of designing Marxed modulators that can efficiently drive a variety of sources. The PIMM topology promises to provide perhaps the most compact and cost effective modulator design possible, while exhibiting superb versatility and reliability.
