Abstract
Salinity has become one of the major problems affecting crop production and food security in Central and Southern Iraq. There is a pressing need to quantify and map the spatial extent and distribution of the salinity in the country in order to provide relevant reference for the central and local governments to plan future agricultural development. The aim of this study is to conduct such quantification and mapping in the Mesopotamian Plain by an innovative remote sensing-based multiyear maximum and multiscale modeling and mapping approach.
