  • Abstract
    An embedded coding technique employing a combination of forward error correction and detection (FEC/FED) for error control in an ARQ environment is proposed. The embedded code consists of a concatenated code with an inner code comprising the (16,5,8) GAC, (16,9,4) RAC and the (16,11,4) GAC for error correction, and an outer RAC code for error detection is used. Simulation is carried out under AWGN and slow Rayleigh fading channel conditions. The results are presented in terms of the BER performance, reliability and throughput and are compared with an RAC code of the same block size as the embedded code
