  • Abstract
Land Cover research is the basis of simulating the formation mechanism and trends of Earth surface systems environment; it can also provide rational reference for Land Use planning and development of relevant sustainable development policies. Land Cover classification system is one of the cores of this research. A Land Cover classification system is proposed from the point of view of biophysical attributes of earth surface and human exploitability. The classification system including almost all of the Land Cover types of China. And the architecture is divided into three levels and the classification principle is clear. The System takes the actual state of Land Cover of China into account, and embodies the potential of the Land Cover as a usable land resource.
