Abstract :
Summary form only given. The diffraction problem by a narrow anisotropically conductive strip is considered. It is as assumed that the strip of width 2a is infinitely long in the z direction and is situated on the yz plane so that the direction of perfect conductivity of the strip makes an angle ψ with the strip edges. It is assumed also that an incident EM wave propagates in the direction orthogonal to the z-axis and makes an angle φ 0 to the x-axis. An analysis of the echo width shows that resonance phenomena may occur for ψ≪1. The experimental investigation of the backscattering by the strip was performed in the frequency band 6.5-16.5 GHz. A thin dielectric strip onto which an array of conducting 1-mm wide ribbons is deposited with a period of 2 mm was used as a breadboard structure
