  • Abstract
A new method is presented to aid in accurately extracting power lines from airborne LiDAR point clouds, which can automatically extract multiple power lines and reconstruct power line in 3D space. According to the spatial distribution characteristics that power-line is closely linked on same power line, the data points belonging to a single power-line are identified. Then, the paper employs the well-known least squares fitting algorithm to estimate a series of power lines model parameters in order to reconstruct multiple power line in three dimensional space. Finally, the paper makes accuracy evaluation to proposed method. The experiment results show that the proposed method could accurately and automatically extract multiple power-lines, and power lines reconstructed by polynomial fitting could well reflect geometric features of power lines.
