Abstract :
In understanding the differences between radio and underwater acoustic communication, one major issue of consideration is the path loss of the system. As a part of this endeavor, this paper presents an analysis of the path loss in the underwater acoustic channel while comparing it with the free space loss and tries to study the complex nature of the environment offered by the underwater medium.
