Abstract :
In this paper, a neural network based controller which optimizes a finite horizon quadratic cost function is developed for a class of nonlinear systems with unknown dynamics. The controller is applied to a cantilever plate. Two implementation methods are introduced: one utilizes a lookup table to obtain the control off-line; and the other is a neural network controller. The open loop and closed loop responses for both types of controllers are presented
