Abstract
The oldest form of environment representation is the map. In this paper, we present a framework for represent building maps. Our proposal is novel because we add semantic to maps for processing and reasoning their content automatically. An Ontology for building maps has been designed to establish a communication between the environment and people. The strength of the ontology is that it represents the semantic qualities, not just the graphic forms. In order to query the building information on an ubiquitous way, our approach has been developed on mobile devices. Thanks to semantic representation, the mobile system integrates routing using the A-star algorithm in the device itself. Besides, we propose a new angles-based heuristic that improves the distance estimation. Finally, we show how update the map information or query routing from remote devices through network services.
