Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a novel optical signal processing technique for a beam-forming network in cellular mobile basestation. The inverse piezoelectric effect in PVF2 coated single mode fiber is employed to control the phase and amplitude weights of each element of the smart antenna array. The antenna weights are calculated for the given look direction and null directions using maximum directivity algorithm. Beam formation is simulated for multiple users and beam steering is found to be satisfactory in a 120deg sector.
