  • Abstract
A single-arm rectangular spiral antenna has been investigated to obtain dual circular polarization of a tilted beam. The proposed rectangular spiral antenna is printed on a finite size dielectric substrate (εr=3.27) backed by a finite size conducting plane. Spiral arm length (L) is varied from L=0.99λo to L=4.06λo to choose the length that yields the proper axial ratio and gain. L is chosen to be two values: L1=1.05λo and L2=3.35λo. L1 radiates an axial beam and L2 radiates a tilted beam. The spiral radiates right hand circular polarization (RHCP) in its axial beam (L1=1.05λo) due to the winding sense. In addition, the spiral radiates dual circular polarization (RHCP and LHCP) at its tilted beam (L2=3.35λo) in one antenna element.
