Abstract :
The 3GPP Long term Evolution (LTE) represents a major advance in cellular technology. This is designed to meet carrier needs for high-speed data and media transport as well as high-capacity voice support. The LTE PHY is a highly efficient means of conveying both data and control information between an enhanced base station and mobile user equipment. The LTE PHY employs some advanced technologies that are new to cellular applications. These include Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) data transmission. Multiple user environment in wireless communication has increased the demand for efficiency and robustness especially in low signal to noise ratio. In MIMO there is an increase in SNR of 3db on average for a two channel MRC receiver. In MIMO-OFDM ICI (inter-carrier interference) degrades the system performance. To overcome this ICI the carrier frequency synchronization algorithm for MIMO-OFDM system is proposed.
