Abstract
Resourceful interference management focuses at achieving acceptable carrier-to-interference ratios in all active communication links in the system. In order to control the transmitter power, the carrier-to-interference (CIR) ratio of the receivers is needed to be balanced in a way that the overall capacity of the system is improved. The distributed power control algorithm earlier used by the satellite communications can be effectively implemented for cellular systems. The mobile units adjust their power at discrete time intervals so that all mobile units converge to a common carrier-to-interference ratio. In this paper, various distributed power control algorithms are analyzed in an optimum way. The optimized algorithms are compared based on the performance measure such as carrier-to-interference ratio.
