Abstract
The author discusses the issues of how computer models might be characterized and compared, validation of such models by error checking and error analysis, and development of canonical reference solutions and software performance standards. A discussion is presented of the internal and external validation procedures. The types of errors that can render the cross-entropy method (CEM) uncertain are also examined.<>
