Abstract
Sensitivity and Robustness are the primary issues while designing the controller for non-linear systems. One of the performance objectives for controller design is to keep the error between the controlled output and the set point as small as possible. This paper presents the Ant colony optimization (ACO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) methods to determine the various controller parameters for controller tuning in a pH neutralization process. The simulation results shows that the proposed intelligent techniques are effective in optimally determining the controller parameters for tuning and has resulted in minimum value of Integral Square Error(ISE), Integral Absolute Error(IAE) and Integral Time Absolute Error(ITAE) with minimum settling time.
