Abstract :
In this paper, an optimization design of Dickson charge pump circuit with a resistive load in terms of circuit die area is proposed. The purpose is to minimize the circuit die area for a given performance. To do this, first a dynamic analysis of a Dickson charge pump circuit with a resistive load is made, resulted from which is the equivalent circuit of Dickson charge pump with a resistive load. Then based on the equivalent circuit, an optimization design is developed. In the proposed design, both pump capacitors and the stage number are considered as design parameters. Compared with the minimum stage number design, the circuit die area can be greatly reduced, a 50% reduction of circuit die area is obtained in the design example given.
