Abstract :
This paper describes how two coupled resonators, thus forming a second order coupled network can be used to produce an oscillator with a lower phase noise than can be obtained using a single resonator. The design technique is illustrated using a typical MMIC and microstripline resonators. Microwave Office computer simulation shows a 2.8 dB improvement in phase noise. The constructed oscillator oscillated close to the design frequency and produced a lower phase noise than a single resonator oscillator using the active same devices.
